IH centrifugal chemical pumps are horizontal, single-stage, single-suction pumps for industrial liquid transfer. They are designed according to standardized end-suction pump dimensions. Therefore, they offer broad model coverage and convenient replacement of common parts.

These pumps are mainly used for clean, corrosive liquids with a viscosity close to water. Suitable materials and seals allow them to transfer acids, alkalis, solvents, salt solutions, and other process liquids.

As an industrial pump manufacturer, we select the pump size, wetted material, shaft seal, motor, and base according to each customer’s operating data.

Reference Parameters for the Pictured Pumps

The photos show pumps with DN50 suction and DN32 discharge connections. Therefore, they are consistent with the IH50-32 series.

Reference Model Flow Head Speed Motor Power
IH50-32-125 12.5 m³/h 20 m 2,900 rpm 2.2 kW
IH50-32-160 12.5 m³/h 32 m 2,900 rpm 3 kW
IH50-32-200 12.5 m³/h 50 m 2,900 rpm 5.5 kW
IH50-32-250 12.5 m³/h 80 m 2,900 rpm 11 kW

The final model cannot be identified from flange size alone. The impeller diameter and nameplate must also be checked.

Horizontal End-Suction Structure

Liquid enters the pump through the horizontal axial inlet. Next, the rotating impeller increases the liquid speed. The volute casing then converts part of this speed into pressure and directs the liquid through the top discharge.

The main parts include:

  • Pump casing
  • Closed impeller
  • Pump cover
  • Pump shaft
  • Replaceable shaft sleeve
  • Seal chamber
  • Bearing housing
  • Flexible coupling
  • Coupling guard
  • Electric motor
  • Steel baseplate

This simple structure supports stable operation. In addition, the pump and motor are mounted on one base, which makes installation and alignment easier.

Back Pull-Out Design

The IH centrifugal chemical pump uses a back pull-out structure. As a result, technicians can remove the bearing bracket, shaft, seal, and impeller from the motor side.

The pump casing can remain connected to the inlet and outlet pipes during many service tasks. Therefore, routine inspection takes less time and causes less disruption to the piping system.

Corrosion-Resistant Material Options

The correct material depends on the chemical, concentration, temperature, and operating time. Available wetted materials may include:

  • Cast steel
  • 304 stainless steel
  • 304L stainless steel
  • 316 stainless steel
  • 316L stainless steel
  • Duplex stainless steel
  • Other corrosion-resistant alloys

The casing, impeller, shaft sleeve, seal faces, and gaskets should be selected as one complete material system. For example, a suitable casing material alone cannot prevent failure if the seal or gasket is not compatible with the liquid.

Shaft Seal Options

A mechanical seal is commonly used for chemical transfer because it provides controlled leakage and compact installation. Seal faces may use carbon, ceramic, silicon carbide, or tungsten carbide.

Packing seals are also available for selected duties. Meanwhile, double mechanical seals, cooling jackets, or external flushing systems can be supplied for hot, toxic, crystallizing, or flammable liquids.

Seal selection should consider liquid temperature, vapor pressure, solids, suction pressure, and allowable leakage.

Main Product Advantages

  • Wide selection of flow and head ratings
  • Standardized pump dimensions
  • Strong stainless steel wetted parts
  • Stable performance for continuous operation
  • Convenient back pull-out maintenance
  • Several mechanical seal options
  • Replaceable shaft sleeve
  • Standard or explosion-proof motor
  • Custom voltage and frequency
  • Complete pump and motor assembly

Industrial Applications

IH centrifugal chemical pumps are widely used in:

  • Chemical processing
  • Petroleum refining
  • Pharmaceutical production
  • Fertilizer manufacturing
  • Acid and alkali transfer
  • Metal pickling
  • Electroplating lines
  • Paper and pulp production
  • Textile and synthetic fiber plants
  • Food processing
  • Industrial wastewater treatment
  • Power plant water systems

The standard pump is intended for clean liquids without hard solids. Liquids containing crystals, abrasive particles, or high solid levels require a separate technical review.

Installation and Safe Operation

Install the pump on a flat and rigid foundation. Also, support the inlet and outlet pipes independently. Pipe weight must not act on the pump flanges.

Before startup, fill the pump casing and suction line with liquid. The IH pump is not self-priming and must never run dry.

Operators should also:

  • Check the coupling alignment
  • Confirm the motor rotation
  • Open the inlet valve fully
  • Remove air from the casing
  • Check the bearing lubricant
  • Avoid long operation with a closed outlet
  • Monitor seal leakage and vibration
  • Check bearing and motor temperature

Correct operation protects the seal and bearings. Moreover, it helps the pump stay close to its selected efficiency range.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an IH pump transfer sulfuric acid?

It can transfer selected sulfuric acid solutions when the material and seal suit the concentration and temperature.

Is the IH centrifugal chemical pump self-priming?

No. Fill the pump and suction pipe before startup.

Can it handle solid particles?

The standard model is intended for clean liquids. Hard or abrasive solids may damage the impeller and seal.

Can an explosion-proof motor be supplied?

Yes. The motor can be matched to the required hazardous-area rating, voltage, frequency, and protection class.
